Antique Butterfly Bracelet by unknown Native American artist of sterling silver, inlaid with coral and turquoise chips, possibly 1930s.

Antique Butterfly Bracelet

NATIVE AMERICAN
Possibly Navajo

This antique Butterfly Bracelet, probably of Navajo manufacture, was probably tufa cast and fabricated of silver, inlaid with turquoise and coral chips, possibly made in the 1930s. It is unusual to inlay chips like this, probably glued in. Carolyn Benesh was especially fond of Native American jewelry, both contemporary and antique, and frequently wore them. The Benesh-Liu family regularly covered important Native American events, thus meeting many jewelers there, as well as visiting galleries of Native American Art in the Southwest.
