Artist Panel - Divine Legacies in Black Jewelry

THE METAL MUSEUM hosts a free online panel discussion this Saturday, August 28, from 2 to 3:30 PM EST (1 to 2:30 PM CST) with five African-American jewelrymakers. Headed by LaMar R. Gayles, Jr., the panel includes Sandy Baker, L'Merchie Frazier, Alicia Goodwin, and Charnelle Holloway as they discuss their careers and work in the exhibition “Divine Legacies in Black Jewelry,” closing September 12, 2021.

The exhibition explores and gives historical background to African-American jewelers in the 20th and 21st century, with the work of over twenty-five jewelry artists on display. For those interested in learning more about the seldom covered history of African-American jewelry, this event is sure to provide context and interesting dialogue.

The panel discussion will be on Zoom; you can register for the event here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEufumvrz8pHNHkbg9Niknkczb60zaUfFEY.
