Technoromantic Bracelet #022312 by Tom Mann of riverstone, silver and brass, 2002.

Tom Mann

CONTEMPORARY ALTERNATIVE
New Orleans, LA

Tom Mann has carved his own niche out in the world of contemporary jewelry, first with his rockstar persona and personal gallery, then with his work drawing attention to the Hurricane Katrina flooding of his beloved New Orleans. His work draws heavily from the raw wildness of the city as well as his own spirit, making use of found objects and non-traditional materials to form chunky, hard-wearing jewelry that is both bold and slightly magical.

His Technoromantic series has been going for many, many years now, and this bracelet is an early example. Tom and my mother had a deep respect for each other, and whenever she saw Tom she’d go out of her way to say hello.
