Benesh describes the story behind the making of the Matilija Poppy Brooch, a collaborative effort of goldsmith Thomas Herman and enamelist Patsy Croft, along with six other jewelers, that took place at the Mendocino Art Center. Inspired by the Ada Brooch made by Marcus & Co., the finished piece was auctioned this year at Sotheby’s to benefit the art center.
