PENLAND SCHOOL OF CRAFT presents “Now Is The Time To Understand More” from May 19 through August 29, 2026. Penland School of Craft is proud to partner with Craft in America to present the exhibition, Now is the Time to Understand More. The title is taken from a Marie Curie quote, scientist and Nobel Prize honoree, “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” In framing the mission of this exhibition, we acknowledge our ninety-seven year history of craft education, but are choosing this opportunity to underscore this moment in time through the lens of artists-makers. The craft artists featured include Shae Bishop, recently featured in Ornament Volume 46, No. 4, David Harper Clemons, Ann Coddington, Mary Hallam Pearse, Mercedes Jelinek, Adam John Manley, Althea Murphy-Price, Lindsay Pichaske, George Rodriguez, Piper Shepard, Sok Song, and Dongyi Wu.
